New Features for Backup Agents in Commvault Platform Release 2024

Backup and Restore Amazon S3 Express One Zone

You can back up and restore Amazon S3 Express One Zone directory buckets and objects with Commvault. Amazon S3 Express One Zone is a high-performance, single-availability zone storage class purpose-built to deliver consistent, single-digit millisecond data access for your most frequently accessed data and latency-sensitive applications.

S3 Express One Zone is the first storage class that you can specify an Availability Zone to co-locate storage and compute resources, which optimizes compute performance while reducing processing time and total operating costs. With S3 Express One Zone, data is stored in a different bucket type (an S3 directory bucket) which supports hundreds of thousands of requests per second.

You can now back up your S3 Express One Zone directory buckets and objects to cost-effective S3 general-purpose buckets. You can restore your backups back to existing or new Amazon S3 Express One Zone directory buckets or Amazon S3 general-purpose buckets.

Backup and Restore Apache Hive Databases and Tables

You can configure full and incremental backups up of Apache Hive databases and tables (both managed and external) in the Hadoop cluster.

Databases and tables can be restored in-place, or can be renamed and restored to the same cluster or a different cluster.

For more information, see Apache Hive.

Back Up and Restore YugabyteDB Cluster Namespaces

You can back up YugabyteDB cluster namespaces (YSQL, YCQL), and perform a granular restore and recovery to the same or a different cluster.

For more information, see YugabyteDB.

Faster Backups and Browse Operations with Offline Cataloging for File System Block-Level Backups

For faster file system backup and browse operations, you can catalog files offline as a separate job after the block-level backup completes.

For more information, see Enabling Block-Level Backups for File System Agent.

Log and Load Copy Backups for DB2 and DB2 MultiNode Databases Using Disk Caching for Frequent Log Backups

You can perform log and load copy backups for DB2 and DB2 MultiNode databases through disk caching for frequent log backups.
