Plans for Protecting, Archiving, and Classifying Data

You create plans to protect your data. In the plan, you define what data to back up, where to back up the data, and how often to run the backup. You can create base plans that can be used as templates for other plans.

Plan Types

There are different plan types that apply to different types of data. Use the Guided Setup to first configure the type of data to protect. Based on your configurations you may see the following plan types.

Laptop plans	End-user devices such as laptops
Server plans	Database agents data File system agents data Exchange applications data IntelliSnap backups Virtualization (streaming): All hypervisor data
Exchange plans	Exchange Mailbox data

Permissions for Plans

To create plans, users must have certain security permissions. For information about creating users and user groups and assigning permissions, see Users and User Groups.
