Enabling Optimized Scans for Hadoop

The recursive scan method is used for Hadoop (HDFS) backups by default. You can enable the optimized scan method.

The optimized scan method determines the changed files in an incremental backup by performing a Snapshots Difference Report operation with the snapshot of the previous backup. The changed files are backed up from the snapshot.

When you enable the optimized scan method, the scan and backup operations read data from the snapshots, to shift load from production data volumes.

Procedure

1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > pseudo-client > Big Data Apps > instance.

2. Right-click the default subclient and then click Properties.

   The Subclient Properties dialog box appears.

3. Click Advanced.

   The Advanced Subclient Properties dialog box appears.

4. On the Advanced Options tab, click Optimized Scan.

5. Click OK.
