Modifying the Deduplication Settings for a VTL

You can modify the deduplication settings for a VTL.

Procedure

1. From the navigation pane, click Virtual Libraries.

   The Configured VTLs page appears.

2. Click the View button for the VTL for which you want to modify the deduplication settings.

   The VTL Information page appears.

3. Click the Modify VTL button, displayed under the VTL Information area.

   The Modify VTL dialog box appears.

4. Select Deduplication to enable deduplication on the cartridges associated with the pool. (Deduplication is enabled by default.)

5. From the Dedupe Block Size list, choose the appropriate block size for the pool.

   Note

   If the VTL is associated with an IBM iSeries host, set the Dedup Block Size to 4 KB in the VTL library. This will ensure that the deduplication metadata required for IBM iSeries hosts is accurately generated.

6. Click Submit.

   The deduplication settings are displayed under VTL Information.
