Running PST Ingestion

Updated

To ingest PST files, run PST ingestion. You can run PST ingestion for a single PST ingestion association or for all PST ingestion associations for a user mailbox subclient or a journal mailbox subclient.

Before you begin to run PST ingestion for a folder, you must configure PST ingestion for either a Microsoft Exchange user mailbox or journal mailbox. To avoid duplicate folders, you can run user mailbox archive job prior to the PST ingestion job for a mailbox.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Console, go to either User Mailbox or Journal Mailbox:

  2. Go to Client Computers > client > agent > User Mailbox.

  3. Go to Client Computers > client > agent > Journal Mailbox.

  4. Run PST ingestion for a single PST ingestion association or for all PST ingestion associations for a user mailbox subclient or a journal mailbox subclient:

    • To run PST ingestion for a PST ingestion association, right-click the association, and then click Run PST Ingestion.

    • To run PST ingestion for a user mailbox subclient or a journal mailbox subclient, complete the following steps:

      1. Go to Client Computers > client > agent > User Mailbox or Journal Mailbox.

      2. In the right-pane, right-click the subclient, and then click Run PST Ingestion.

The Archive Options for Subclient dialog box appears.

  5. Optional: To run the PST ingestion job on an access node other than the one that is defined for the Exchange agent, on the Access Nodes tab, click Add.

The Select Clients / Client Groups dialog box appears.

    1. From the Exclude list, select Client or Client Group that you want to use as a proxy, and then click Include.

    2. Click OK.

  6. Optional: To run the PST ingestion as a full back up job, on the Archive Options tab, select the Convert job to full checkbox.

  7. To run the PST ingestion, click OK.

Results

After running the PST ingestion job, you can view the Job history and click on the Status tab to view the job details. The status tab does not show details of skipped items. You can display hidden columns from the tables menu for additional information by selecting a column that does not have a check mark beside it. For more information, see Advanced - Viewing the Job History.
