Configuring Open Replication for Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP

Use the open replication for Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP to replicate snapshots.

Before You Begin

Make sure that you have configured an array access node on the source storage virtual machine (SVM) array and that the array access node has access to both the source and the target SVM arrays. However, if you configured a Remote Snap MediaAgent on the target array, then access to the target array from the source array access node is not required.

Ensure that the relationships used by the Open Replication feature do not have any associated external snapmirror schedules.

Configuration Process

  1. Do one of the following:

    • Use existing relationships.

    • For each volume that is going to be replicated, create one of the following relationships:

      • For vault/replica copy, create either a SnapVault relationship or a MirrorVault relationship.

      • For mirror copy, create a Version Flexible Mirror relationship.

For more information, see Creating Relationships for Open Replication for Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP.

  2. Configure the source SVM array for replication using Array Management.

  3. Associate the source array with an array access node.

  4. Configure the target SVM array for replication using Array Management. If the source array access nodes, do not also have access to the target array, then on the target array, select the Remote Snap MediaAgent (Remote Snap MA) option.

  5. Create a storage policy and a primary snap copy.

  6. Create a vault/replica copy or a mirror copy.

  7. Optional: Displaying SVM Names instead of IP address.

  8. Associate the replica copy to the subclients snapshots you want to replicate.
