Custom Package Configuration

Why Do You Need It?

Good to Know

Coupled Install without End-User Authentication

If you want your end-users to install the package with:

  • no interaction during install

  • no authentication required prior to install

Coupled install involves deploying the package on a laptop that can connect to the CommServe during the installation.

Coupled Install with End-User Authentication

If you want to prompt the end-user for user authentication during the installation.

Use the following steps to enable end-user authentication.

  1. Log on to the CommCell Console, right-click the CommServe node, and then click Properties.

  2. In the CommCell Properties dialog box, on the Security tab, select Require authentication for Agent Installation.

Decoupled Custom Package

  • If you want your end-users to install the package with no CommServe connection available during install.

  • End-users can complete installation and register the laptop client to the CommServe at a later time.

Decoupled installation is performed without involving the CommServe until you are ready to add the client and MediaAgent to the CommCell. After all necessary physical connections are established, the client can be added to the CommCell environment.
