IntelliSnap Recovery Manager (IRM) - CommServe Installation

Install the IRM CommServe software on a server computer by using the installation package that was created from the Download Manager application.

Before You Begin

  • Close all applications and disable any programs that run automatically, including anti-virus, screen savers, and operating system utilities.

    Some of the programs, including many anti-virus programs, might be running as a service. Stop and disable such services before you begin. You can re-enable the programs after the installation.

  • Download the software.

    Use the Download Manager application to download the latest IRM software. During the download, the application bundles an installation package with the software you chose to download. The Download Manager is available in the Cloud Services website.

    1. Log on to the Cloud Services website.

    2. On the Download Center page, locate and download V11 SPn Media Kit and Service Pack - IRM which displays the latest service pack.

      When the download completes, you will see the application executable (.exe) in the downloaded location.

    3. Run the application and create an installation package that includes the CommServe software. For instructions, see Downloading Software for Windows Computers Using the Download Manager.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the computer as an Administrator or as a member of the Administrator group on that computer.

  2. Run Setup.exe from the installation package.

    The installation wizard opens.

  3. On the welcome page, select the I Agree check box and proceed to the next page.

  4. On the Choose the Installation Type page, click Install packages on this computer and proceed to the next page.

  5. On the Select Packages page, select the CommServe check box, and proceed to the next page.

    Note: The CommCell Console and the File System Agent will also be installed along with the CommServe software.

  6. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.

    During the installation, make sure to provide the following information:

    • On the Disaster Recovery Path page, specify the location where you want to save the disaster recovery files. You can specify a local path or a network path.

    • On the Database Install Option page, click Create New Database.

    • On the CommCell Administrator Account page, specify the password for the administrator account. This is the account you will use to access the CommServe database as well as the CommCell Console and Web Console.
