Use this procedure when you have connectivity issues between the Commvault Proxy Server and the IBM AS/400 (IBM i) server.
You can change the timeout value of the following hosts to prevent connectivity issues:

The IBM i file system client
-
The Commvault proxy server
-
The IBM AS/400 (IBM i) server
Before You Begin
On the Windows client, turn on the Telnet Client feature.
Procedure
CA400 Emulation

Start a command session on Windows.

From the command line, start a telnet session to the IBM i file system client, by typing the following command:
telnet IBM i File System client host name
Where IBM i File System client host name is the IBM file system client.
Example
telnet client.example.com

On the Sign On page, type the credentials that you use to connect to the server.
The Start TCP/IP TELNET (TELENET) page appears.

On the Remote system line, type the AS/400 server name, and then press <F4>.
The page displays the default time as 120 seconds.

Change the timeout to a value that is lower than 120. On the command line, type the following command:
TELNET RMTSYS(IBM i File System client host name) INZWAIT(time)
Where:
IBM i File System client host name is the IBM file system client.
time is the timeout in seconds
Example
TELNET RMTSYS(client.example.com) INZWAIT(20)

If you still have issues, change the timeout on the Commvault proxy server, or the AS/400 server.
On the command line, type the following command:
TELNET RMTSYS(proxy) INZWAIT(time)
Where
proxy is the proxy server
time is the timeout in seconds
Example
TELNET RMTSYS(proxy.example.com) INZWAIT(20)

Enter a new system request. Press Shift+ESC <KEYS> , and then on the bottom of the page type 2*immed, and then press Enter.
After you press enter, the session is released.
TN5250 Emulation

Start a command session on Windows.
-
From the command line, start a telnet session to the IBM i file system client, by typing the following command:
telnet IBM i File System client host name
Where IBM i File System client host name is the IBM file system client.
Example
telnet client.example.com

On the Sign On page, type the credentials that you use to connect to the server.

After you enter the credentials, type the following command so that you go to the c: prompt.
Note: If you use any other option, the you stay on the Sign On page, and can then exit by using the +.
SIGNOFF ENDCNN(*YES)
The Start TCP/IP TELNET (TELNET) page appears.

Enter a new system request. In the session, right click, and then click Select Keyboard> System Request.

In the System Request dialog box, type 2*immed, and then click SysReq.
The session is released.
