Adding an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Hypervisor

Add an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure hypervisor to support data protection operations for all instances hosted or managed by an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure region.

Before You Begin

You will need the following information to add a hypervisor:

• Install the Virtual Server Agent (VSA) on at least one Oracle Cloud Infrastructure instance. You can install the VSA on other machines to create additional VSA proxies. At least one VSA proxy is needed.

• Identify the Oracle Cloud Identifier (OCID) for the tenant and for the admin user for the hypervisor.

• Add required permissions for the OCID tenant and user.

• Create a folder (called base_folder\certificates\external\ for Windows proxies, or called base_folder/certificates/external/ folder for Linux proxies) on the VSA proxy instance. Obtain the private key, password, and fingerprint for the private key, and then copy the private key to the newly created folder.

Procedure

1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.

   The Virtual machines page appears.

2. Click Add hypervisor.

   The Configure Hypervisor page appears.

3. Select Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and then click Next.

   The Configure Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Hypervisor page appears.

4. In Hypervisor name, enter a descriptive name for the hypervisor.

5. In Credential, select a saved credential. Or, to create a new credential, do the following:

   • Click the plus sign .

     The Add credential dialog box appears.

   • In Credential name, enter a name for the new credential.

   • In Tenancy ocid, enter the OCID for the tenant.

   • In User ocid, enter the OCID for the admin user for the hypervisor.

   • In Finger print, enter the fingerprint for the private key.

   • In Private key filename, enter the file name for the private key.

   • In Private keys password, enter the password for the private key.

     This is the passphrase that was used to encrypt the private key.

6. In Regions, do one of the following:

   • To enable all regions to be supported for the hypervisor, enter "default".

   • To enable specific regions to be supported for the hypervisor, enter the region names, each separated by a comma ( , ).

     Note

   • To enable a dedicated region, enter the private region name.

     Note

     If the dedicated region's endpoint URL is not captured by the system and you see an connection error, see "Specifying an Endpoint URL for an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Dedicated Region" in Troubleshooting - Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

7. From the Access node list, select a previously deployed proxy that is an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure instance.

8. Click Save.
