You can set the MediaAgents of a storage policy to be automatically enabled, disabled, and restarted based on key performance indicators (KPIs). Setting MediaAgents to be automatically managed based on KPIs increases job success rates.
The Commvault software collects KPI information from MediaAgents every hour, and calculates KPIs based on the following values:
-
The number of jobs that are pending, failed, successful, and running for 30 or more days
-
Use of CPU and memory
If the KPIs for a MediaAgent indicate a problem, the software automatically disables the MediaAgent and routes jobs to the next available MediaAgent for the storage policy copy. When the KPIs for the disabled MediaAgent are normal again, the software automatically enables the MediaAgent.
