Replication configuration includes Azure Stack Hub setup and Commvault configuration. You can configure the required Commvault entities individually, or all together using the recovery group configuration tool.
Commvault Configuration
Commvault configuration includes the following entities:
-
Hypervisor configurations for the source and destination sites
-
Recovery target for each destination site
-
Replication group for virtual machines or instances that are replicated from the primary site to the secondary site
In addition, you can deploy access nodes in your environment to manage operations and MediaAgents to manage data movement. These entities are needed on the primary and destination sites.
Azure Stack Hub Hypervisor Configuration
For Azure Stack Hub, the Commvault hypervisor configuration represents an Azure Stack Hub application. There are two methods of deployment:
-
The traditional method with Azure Active Directory requires that you set up the application and tenant. With this option, during hypervisor configuration, you must provide the following information:
-
Subscription ID
-
Tenant ID
-
Application ID and password
To complete this type of deployment, refer to Setting Up an Application and Tenant for Azure Stack Hub.
-
-
Managed Identity authentication with Azure Active Directory. This is a more secure method of deployment. Using this method ensures that your Azure Stack Hub subscription is accessed only from authorized Managed Identity-enabled virtual machines. In addition, the process of adding an Azure Stack Hub hypervisor is simpler. You only need the Subscription ID, and not the Tenant ID, Application ID and Application Password information.
To complete this type of deployment, refer to Setting Up Managed Identity Authentication for Azure Stack Hub Resource Manager.
