You can configure a SQL failover cluster to automatically discover and back up SQL databases. Automatic discovery is not available if the cluster group contains a restricted resource type or if it is a core cluster group.
Procedure
-
Install the SQL Server database agent.
For more information, see Getting Started with SQL Server.
-
From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Server groups.
The Server groups page appears.
-
Create a new server group and add cluster nodes that have SQL Server agents installed.
-
In the General section, move the Enable auto discover toggle key to the right.
Results
The Commvault software automatically runs a periodic scan of the servers that are associated with the server group to discover applications that need to be backed up. For any newly discovered and unprotected applications, the system automatically installs or configures the SQL Server agent on the server. After the SQL cluster client is configured, add the clustered SQL server instance manually or wait until the next period scan automatically discovers the clustered SQL instance.
