You can edit a snapshot copy using the following procedure.

Before You Begin

Read about Considerations and Mapping in Snapshot Copies.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Plans.

    The Plans page appears.

  2. From the Plan table, click the required plan.

    The plan page appears.

  3. In the Backup destinations section, click the snapshot copy that you want to edit.

The Configuration tab of the snapshot copy appears.

    a. To enable compliance lock, in the General section, move the Compliance lock toggle key to the right.

    Notes

    • This action is irreversible. Contact Commvault support and obtain the authorization code to disable compliance lock.

    • Compliance lock prevents manual deletion of snapshots.

    • You cannot lower the retention on compliance lock enabled copy.

    • If you enable compliance lock on a mirror copy, the software automatically enables compliance lock on all source mirror copies till it encounters a non-mirror copy, including the last non-mirror copy.

    • If you upgrade to Commvault Platform Release 2024E (11.36), you should manually enable the compliance lock on the existing snapshot copies even if the compliance lock is enabled on the storage used on the snapshot copies.

For more information about compliance lock, see Configuring WORM Storage Mode on Cloud Storage.

    b. In the Retention Rules section, click the edit icon.

The Edit retention settings window appears.

    - Enable data aging: To enable data aging, move this toggle key to the right. Allows the data from this copy to be pruned during a data aging operation as long as the retention rules of this copy have been met.

    - Choose one of the following methods of retention of snapshots.

    - Retention period: This is the default method of retention. Use this method if you want to specify retention based on a time period.

    - Number of snap recovery points: Use this method to base retention on a number of snapshot recovery points.

    - Extended Retention rules: To add a rule to retain backups beyond the retention period, move this toggle key to the right, and then select a rule type and a period of time.
