To include virtual machines that were previously configured for application backup using an application agent such as the SQL Server agent, ensure that the following requirements are met for the application:
-
Disable the backup activity on all non-default application (SQL) subclients so that no new backups will be run from them. Additionally, you can modify the default subclient content to include all the databases. For an alternative approach, please review Data Aging of Deleted Subclients and delete any non-default application subclients. This will automatically adjust the default subclient to include all databases.
-
Add the VM that requires backup to the VMGroup's content, then configure the application-aware backup option.
-
Initiate the backup process for the modified VMGroup, either by running the backup immediately or scheduling it as needed.
