Restoring an Exchange Database to a Different Disk location

Updated

You can restore a database to a physically different location on a disk (that is, a non-Exchange location), and you can choose whether to replay the logs. You can perform the restore operation on a default subclient or a user-defined subclient that was backed up at least one time.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Exchange.

    The Exchange page appears.

  2. Click an Exchange database.

    The Exchange Database page appears.

  3. On the Subclients tab, in the Actions column for the subclient, click the action button action_button, and then click Restore > Restore database.

A link for the Microsoft Information Store appears.

  4. Click Microsoft Information Store.

    A list of databases appears.

  5. Select the databases that you want to restore, and then at the top of the page, click Restore.

The Restore options dialog box appears.

  6. Select File location.

  7. Specify how and where you want to restore the data:

    • If you do not want to replay logs after the restore operation, select Without Recovery.

    • From the Destination host list, select the Exchange server to restore the database to.

    • Under Restore location, for each database, select a file location to restore to.

  8. Click Submit.
