System Requirements for Using IntelliSnap for NAS File Servers

If you want to perform IntelliSnap backups of NAS file servers, verify that your environment meets the system requirements.

UNC Paths/NFS Exports

For snapshot backups, use one of the following:

  • For UNC paths, you can use the snapshot backup feature on data in Windows file system agents under NAS clients.

  • For NFS exports, you can use the snapshot backup feature on data in UNIX file system agents under NAS or UNIX clients.

Storage Arrays

You can use the following storage arrays:

  • Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale

  • Dell EMC Unity

  • Hitachi NAS

  • Huawei

  • NetApp (7-Mode and C-Mode)

Note

For IntelliSnap backups of volumes from Azure NetApp Files agent, you can create a dedicated Azure NetApp Files client. For more information, see Azure NetApp Files.

User Permissions for NetApp Storage Arrays

You can use the following users permissions for NetApp storage arrays.

Can back up any file and folder on the NetApp C-mode storage array.

An administrator or a backup operator on the domain controller

For the share, either access control with full access on the file server or NTFS permission is required.

Can back up any file and folder on the NetApp 7-mode storage array.

User Permissions for Non-NetApp Storage Arrays

The user must be an administrator or a backup operator on the domain controller.
