After you create a client for the Cassandra cluster and discover the Cassandra nodes, you can have the software automatically perform a push installation of the Commvault Cassandra package to one or all of your Cassandra nodes.
This option simplifies installation by having the Commvault software perform the following operations:
-
Installs the Commvault Cassandra package on all the nodes in the cluster, or a subset of nodes, for example a data center.
-
Guides you through the install wizard and provides default selections (for example, the clients for the selected nodes).
-
Uses the selected options for the nodes which ensures that you have a consistent configuration.
Before You Begin
-
If you have not already done so, create a Cassandra client. For more information, see Adding a Client for Cassandra.
-
Review the Cassandra Preinstallation Checklist. For more information, see Preinstallation Checklist for the Cassandra Agent on UNIX.
You use this information (for example the major Cassandra version) in the Installer wizard.
Procedure
-
From the CommCell Browser, right-click Client Computers > Client> Big Data Apps.
-
Right-click the instance, and then click Properties.
The Instance Properties dialog box appears.
-
On the Details tab, click Discover.
The software discovers the Cassandra nodes that are part of the cluster, and then displays the IP addresses for the nodes.
-
Select the nodes.
-
Install the software on a subset of nodes.Right-click the nodes, point to Install Commvault, and then click Selected Nodes.
-
Install the software on all nodes. Right-click, point to Install Commvault, and then click All Nodes.
The Installer wizard appears.
-
-
Proceed through the wizard. For more information, see Installing Commvault Remotely Using the CommCell Console.
-
Click OK.
-
Click OK to close the Instance Properties dialog box.
Result
The Commvault software initiates a job to install the Commvault Cassandra package on the specified nodes.
What to Do Next
-
Monitor the install job from the job controller. For more information see Getting Started with the Job Controller.
-
If the job does not successfully complete, check the job details for information, and then correct the configuration. For information on how to view the job details, see Viewing Job Information - Viewing Job Details. Resubmit the job. For more information, see Resubmitting a Job in the Job Controller.
-
After the install job completes, configure the selected nodes. For more information, see Configuring Cassandra Nodes.
