Applies to: SQL 2012 and more recent versions. The Commvault Plug-in on the SQL Management Studio is not supported for SQL Server on Linux.
You can use Commvault Plug-in to perform Commvault backup and restore operations in the SQL Management Studio. After you configure the Commvault Plug-in on the SQL Management Studio, the options to back up and restore are made available in the SQL Management Studio.
Commvault Plug-in for SQL Management Studio is part of the SQL agent package. To perform configuration, install the SQL agent on the server where SQL Management Studio will be used.
Note
Commvault does not support configuring the Commvault Plug-in if SQL Management Studio is installed on a Windows 32-bit operating system.
You cannot use the Commvault Plug-in on a client that has the CommServe software installed on it.
Commvault Plug-in operations may take longer than expected due to privilege escalation requirements. Make sure to launch SQL Server Management Studio with elevated permissions.
