Configuring the Hybrid File Store Cache

Deprecated

Hybrid File Store server is deprecated.

This task applies to the MediaAgent where the Hybrid File Store Server is configured.

To configure the cache, you must specify the disk cache location and the high-water mark.

If the MediaAgent is on a Hyperscale platform, the disk cache is automatically initialized to use the metadatavg volume. The metadatavg volume must have a minimum of 50GB free space and the software uses a maximum of 500 GB space.

For MediaAgents on non-hyperscale platform, you must configure the disk cache manually before creating the Hybrid File Store on the CommCell Console. If you are using the Command Center, you will configure the disk cache when your create the Hybrid File Store. For more information, see Creating the Hybrid File Store on the Command Center.

The high-water mark is the percent of disk usage that triggers the software to prune the disk cache. For example, if the value is 90%, then the software starts pruning the unused items from the disk when 90% of the disk that contains the cache directory is filled. In most cases, you do not need to modify the default value.

Procedure

  1. In the CommCell Browser, expand Storage Resources > MediaAgents.

  2. Right-click the MediaAgent, and then click Properties.

The MediaAgent Properties dialog box appears.

  3. On the File Server tab, specify the disk cache details.

    1. In the Cache Directory box, type the full path to the cache directory.

    2. In the High Water Mark box, type the percent.

  4. Click OK.

Results

The Commvault software uses the specified directory for the disk cache.
