Before using the IntelliSnap feature for this storage array, read the following limitations and special conditions.
ONTAP
-
For ONTAP 9.5 and later:
-
SnapMirror Synchronous (SM-S) relations are not supported for the NetApp Open Replication feature.
-
If the volume of the file server that contains the LUN has an SM-S relationship configured, then IntelliSnap operations on that LUN are not supported.
-
-
For NetApp arrays and arrays that use the NetApp Snap engine, if you are using AIX, HP-UX, or Solaris clients or access nodes, the following conditions apply:
- For ONTAP versions earlier than 9.11.1, snapshot and other operations are not supported. However, you can configure and use a Windows or Linux-based remote MediaAgents or proxy access node to perform those operations.
- For ONTAP versions 9.11.1 or later:
- Snapshot and other operations are supported only if REST APIs are enabled on the array. For information on enabling REST APIs, see the How to enable REST API based authorization? section on Frequently Asked Questions for the NetApp Storage Array.
- Active IQ Unified Manager (AIQUM) based snapshot replication is not supported. However, you can configure and use a Windows or Linux-based data path MediaAgents for the storage policy copy to perform this operation.
Platforms
-
For IBM Power PC, IntelliSnap is supported only for 64-bit little endian platforms.
-
Supported on HP-UX running on Intel Itanium processors using Fibre Channel.
NetApp FabricPool
-
You can use the Commvault software with NetApp FabricPool with ONTAP 9.7 and more recent versions.
-
The Commvault software does not control tiering to and from supported platforms and the performance of NetApp FabricPool tiering.
-
Prior to ONTAP 9.8, NetApp FabricPool was only supported on SSD local tiers.
-
For more information about NetApp FabricPool, go to the NetApp website and search for "FabricPool best practices guide".
Storage Policies
- Cloning a storage policy that is associated with OnCommand Unified Manager (OCUM) is not supported.
