The Virtual Server Agent can be installed on one or more machines, so that those machines can serve as VSA proxies. A VSA proxy manages backup and restore operations for guest instances in your environment, eliminating the need to install agents on guest instances.
The Virtual Server Agent is installed on a Linux or Windows instance in the OpenStack region that contains the instances or images to be protected.
One or more VSA proxies can be deployed for each region in a OpenStack deployment. All VSA proxies associated with an OpenStack region must be added to the OpenStack virtualization client.
You can configure application-aware backups using the Virtual Server Agent to protect application data without installing guest agents on instances.
