Use this dialog box to change configuration parameters for performing Disaster Recovery (DR) Backups.
Export Settings

Number of full Metadata Backups to be retained
Specifies the number of full DR backup cycles that must be retained and available for restores.
Note
This setting is not applicable for Configuring Automatic Uploads of Disaster Recovery (DR) Backups to Commvault Cloud Services Portal.

Backup Metadata Destination folder type
Allows you to specify the location for DR backups, either on a network share or local drive.
Recommended
-
You must store the Disaster Recovery (DR) backup in a dedicated network location that is accessible from both the production host and the new server host that is used for recovery.

Do not use a local disk or local clustered disk because it is not safe and recommended.

Use a UNC path to access the network location. Make sure that this dedicated location is not used for any other CommServe task.

Do not use administrative shares as an export location. For example,
\\MyServer\E$\
. -
For a network location that is on a Windows mount path, the software enables ransomware protection by default. For a network location that is on a Linux mount path, you must enable ransomware protection manually.

Do not use the Commvault installation directory as a backup location for DR backups to local disk. By default, the Commvault software enables ransomware protection for DR backup folders on Windows.
Use Network Share
Backs up DR data to a network share.
Use Local Drive
Backs up DR data to a local drive.
Note
If a MediaAgent is not yet configured, it is recommended that you specify a network share as the destination folder.

Back Up Metadata to this folder
Type or browse to a network share or local drive.
Browse
Allows you to browse to a network share or local drive.
User Name
Identifies the Windows user account under which Disaster Recovery backups are conducted. This account must have read/write permissions to the location identified by Back Up Metadata To This Folder.
Change
Displays the Change User Account dialog box, which allows you to establish or change the designated User Name.
Upload backup metadata to Commvault Cloud
When selected, a copy of the DR backup will be uploaded to Commvault Cloud Services portal. (This is in addition to the network share or local drive specified above.)

Upload backup metadata to Cloud Library
When selected, a copy of the DR backup will be uploaded to a cloud storage library. (This is in addition to the network share or local drive specified above.)
A list of configured cloud storage libraries are listed. Select the cloud storage library that must be used to upload the DR data from the list.
Note
Cloud storage libraries using unicode characters are not supported.
Backup Settings

Use VSS
When selected, uses VSS (Volume Shadow Services) to backup the CommServe log files, during the backup phase (phase 2) of DR Backups, to ensure that locked files are included in the backup. (When cleared, DR backups could get stuck if another process tries to access the log file at the same time.)

Back Up Metadata to this Disaster Recovery Storage Policy
Specifies the name of the storage policy used to perform DR Backups.
All DR storage policies (CommServe Disaster Recovery Backup Storage Policies) are listed. Select the storage policy to backup the DR data from this list.

Wildcard Settings for Backup Log Files
Specifies the log files that must included in the DR backup. The specified log files will be included from the clients selected in the Disaster Recovery Options (Client Selection) dialog box.
