Basic Operations
You can suspend, power off, or restart the Virtual Lab. In order to perform other advanced operations such as editing or deleting the Virtual Lab, you must first suspend or power off the Virtual Lab.
Note: Suspending, powering off, or restarting a Virtual Lab will disrupt access to the Virtual Lab for other users. Ensure no other users are currently using the Virtual Lab prior to performing these functions.
Virtual Labs Page

Log into the Web Console. For instructions, see Accessing the Web Console.

Click Virtual Labs.
The Virtual Labs list appears. Different operations are available, depending on whether you select one Virtual Lab or more than one Virtual Lab.

Select one or more Virtual Labs, and then perform any of the following operations:

To temporarily disable use of the Virtual Lab, click Suspend .

To turn off the Virtual Lab, click Power Off .

To restart the Virtual Lab, click Restart .

Select one Virtual Lab, and then perform any of the following operations:
-
To temporarily disable use of the Virtual Lab, click Suspend .
-
To turn off the Virtual Lab, click Power Off .
-
To restart the Virtual Lab, click Restart .
-
To remote desktop to the Virtual Lab, click Connect using a remote desktop .
-
To delete the Virtual Lab, click Delete .
-
To renew the Virtual Lab, click Renew .

Virtual Lab Details Page
To perform basic functions from the Virtual Lab details page:

Log into the Web Console. For instructions, see Accessing the Web Console.

Click Virtual Labs.
The Virtual Labs list appears.

Click the name of the Virtual Lab.
The Virtual Lab page appears.

Perform any of the following operations:
-
To temporarily disable use of the Virtual Lab, click Suspend .
-
To turn off the Virtual Lab, click Power Off .
-
To restart the Virtual Lab, click Restart .

Starting a Virtual Lab
To start a Virtual Lab after it has been suspended or powered off:

Log into the Web Console. For instructions, see Accessing the Web Console.

Click Virtual Labs.
The Virtual Labs list appears.

Click the name of the Virtual Lab.
The Virtual Lab page appears.

Click the Start button .
A message appears that says the power on operation has completed.
Delete a Virtual Lab
Warning: If you delete a Virtual Lab, it will no longer be available for use and you can no longer access any data or applications residing on it.

Log into the Web Console. For instructions, see Accessing the Web Console.

Click Virtual Labs.
The Virtual Labs list appears.

Click the name of the Virtual Lab.
The Virtual Lab page appears.

Either turn off or suspend the Virtual Lab.
-
To turn off the Virtual Lab, click Power Off.
-
To suspend the Virtual Lab, click Suspend.
A message appears that says the suspend operation has completed.

Click Delete.
A message appears that asks you to confirm that you want to delete the Virtual Lab.
-
Click Yes.
A message appears that says the delete operation is complete.
The Virtual Labs list appears.
Renew a Virtual Lab
If your Virtual Lab expires, you can renew it from the Virtual Lab page.
To renew your Virtual Lab:

Log into the Web Console. For instructions, see Accessing the Web Console.

Click Virtual Labs.
The Virtual Labs list appears.

Click the name of the Virtual Lab.
The Virtual Lab page appears.

Click Renew.
-
In the Expiration box, enter a new expiration date, and then click OK.
The Virtual Lab will not be available past the expiration date.
Modify a Virtual Machine
You can rename or change settings, such as memory size and disk space, for any virtual machine.
Rename or Change the Expiration Date of a Virtual Machine

Log into the Web Console. For instructions, see Accessing the Web Console.

Click Virtual Machines.
The My Virtual Machines list appears.

Click the name of the virtual machine.
The virtual machine page appears.

Click the Edit button .
The Edit Virtual Machine dialog box appears.
-
In the Name box, enter a name for the virtual machine. The name must follow the pattern displayed.
For example, if the pattern displayed is MyVM???, then your virtual machine name must consist of the following:
MyVM<three_characters>

(Optional) In the Description box, enter a new description for the virtual machine.
-
(Optional) In the Expiration Date box, enter a new expiration date for the virtual machine.
The virtual machine will not be available past the expiration date.

Click Finish.
A message appears that says your changes require the virtual machine to restart.

Click Submit.
The My Virtual Machines list appears. The name of the virtual machine is changed.
Edit Memory, CPU, or NIC Settings
You can change the amount of memory, number of CPUs, and the number of NICs.

Log into the Web Console. For instructions, see Accessing the Web Console.

Click Virtual Machines.
The My Virtual Machines list appears.

Click the name of the virtual machine.
The virtual machine page appears.

Click the Edit button .
The Edit Virtual Machine dialog box appears.

On the Name page, click Next.
-
On the Configuration page, perform any of the following operations:

In the Memory box, change the amount of memory(in GB) for the virtual machine.
Drag the customization bar to refine the memory amount in MB.

In the Number of CPUs box, change the number of CPUs for the virtual machine.
-
In the Number of NICs, change the number of NICs for the virtual machine.

Click Finish.
Add or Edit Disk Space
You can edit the amount of disk space available.

Log into the Web Console. For instructions, see Accessing the Web Console.

Click Virtual Machines.
The My Virtual Machines list appears.

Click the name of the virtual machine.
The virtual machine page appears.

Click the Edit button .
The Edit Virtual Machine dialog box appears.

On the Name page, click Next, and on the Configuration page, click Next.

On the Disks page, enter the amount of disk space for the virtual machine.
You can also drag the customization bar to refine the size.

Click Finish.
Add or Edit Disks
You can add an additional disk and specify its size.

Log into the Web Console. For instructions, see Accessing the Web Console.

Click Virtual Machines.
The My Virtual Machines list appears.

Click the name of the virtual machine.
The virtual machine page appears.

Click the Edit button .
The Edit Virtual Machine dialog box appears.

On the Name page, click Next, and on the Configuration page, click Next.
-
On the Disks page, if you have not done so already, select Disk Two.
-
In the Type list, specify the disk type.
-
To use a new disk, select the Empty Disk, and then enter the amount of disk space for the second disk.
You can also drag the customization bar to refine the size.

To use an existing snapshot, select Snapshot, and then from the Snapshot list, select the snapshot that you want to use.

Click Next, and then click Finish.
Manage Snapshots
Applies To: VMware, Hyper-V, Amazon
The Snapshotfeature allows you to create an exact image of a virtual machine as it exists at the time the snapshot is taken. If the virtual machine encounters an irreversible problem, for example, important files are permanently deleted, or the operating system becomes corrupted, you can revert a virtual machine to its snapshot. Reverting to the snapshot brings the virtual machine back to the state it was in when the snapshot was taken. You can also revert from a snapshot if you no longer wish to use the virtual machine in its snapshot state.
Create a Snapshot

Log into the Web Console. For instructions, see Accessing the Web Console.

Click Virtual Machines.
The My Virtual Machines list appears.

Click the name of the virtual machine.
-
The virtual machine page appears.Click CreateSnapshot .
The Create Snapshot dialog box appears.

In the Name box, enter a name for the snapshot.
-
In the Description box, enter a descriptionof the snapshot, such as a date and/or a description of files existing on the virtual machine at the point the snapshot is taken.

Click Submit.
A message appears that says the Snapshot Job was submitted successfully. You can monitor the progress of the job on the virtual machine page. Another message appears when the Snapshot Job has completed.
Revert to a Snapshot

Log into the Web Console. For instructions, see Accessing the Web Console.

Click Virtual Machines.
The My Virtual Machines list appears.

Click the name of the virtual machine.
-
The virtual machine page appears.Click ViewSnapshots .
The Snapshots dialog box appears.

Select a snapshot from the list, and then click Revert.
A message appears that says the Snapshot Job was submitted successfully. You can monitor the progress of the job on the virtual machine page. Another message appears when the Snapshot Job has completed.
Delete a Snapshot

Log into the Web Console. For instructions, see Accessing the Web Console.

Click Virtual Machines.
The My Virtual Machines list appears.

Click the name of the virtual machine.

The virtual machine page appears.Click ViewSnapshots .
The Snapshots dialog box appears.

Select a snapshot from the list, and then click Delete.
A message appears that says the Delete Snapshot Job was submitted successfully. You can monitor the progress of the job on the virtual machine page. Another message appears when the Delete Snapshot Job has completed.
Revert to the Current Snapshot
To revert the virtual machine to the current snapshot:

Log into the Web Console. For instructions, see Accessing the Web Console.

Click Virtual Machines.
The My Virtual Machines list appears.

Click the name of the virtual machine.

The virtual machine page appears.Click Revert to Current Snapshot .
A message appears that says the Revert to Current Snapshot Job was submitted successfully. You can monitor the progress of the job on the virtual machine page. Another message appears when the Revert to Current Snapshot Job has completed.
Synchronize Virtual Machine
Applies To: Amazon, Azure Classic, Hyper-V, VMware
If the IP address is not displayed or is incorrect, or if snapshots and/or hard disk information is not correctly displayed, you can synchronize the virtual machine with its host to update the latest information from the CommServe computer.

Log into the Web Console. For instructions, see Accessing the Web Console.

Click Virtual Machines.
The My Virtual Machines list appears.

Click the name of the virtual machine.
-
The virtual machine page appears.At the top of the page, click Synchronize.
A message appears that says the virtual machine refreshed successfully.
Remote Desktop to a Virtual Lab
You can open a remote desktop to a Virtual Lab from the Web Console.

Log into the Web Console. For instructions, see Accessing the Web Console.

Click Virtual Machines.
The My Virtual Machines list appears.

Click the name of the virtual machine.
-
The virtual machine page appears.At the top of the page, click Remote Desktop.
-
Select Open, and then click OK.
The Windows Security dialog box appears.
-
Enter you credentials, and then click OK to log into the Virtual Lab.
