Setting Up Frequent Disk Cache for LiveSync Replication

Frequent disk cache for LiveSync replication can be setup to facilitate faster and efficient synchronization of data between the production and standby CommServe hosts, by modifying the Failover Transaction Log schedule, which is automatically created when the LiveSync operation is enabled.

Before You Begin

Enable the CommServe LiveSync feature which facilitates CommServe Recovery Using High Availability CommServe Host. For more information on enabling the LiveSync operation, see Enabling and Disabling CommServe LiveSync.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Policies > Schedule Policies.

All the Schedule Policies appears in the right pane.

  2. Right-click the System Created for Failover schedule policy and then click Edit.

The System Created for Failover dialog box appears.

  3. Under Tasks, highlight the Failover Transaction Log schedule and then click Edit.

The Backup Tasks Options dialog box appears.

  4. From the Schedule Pattern tab, click the Automatic option.

  5. Increase or decrease the values in the following options: (Default values are recommended for these options.)

      Note

Make sure to enter a value for Back up on file activity every field smaller than the value for Force a backup every’ field.

    3. From the Databases tab, select the Use disk cache for log backups and commit every option.

  6. Click OK.

  7. Click OK again in the System Created for Failover dialog box

Result

A continuous replication job will be started and can viewed in the Job Controller.

Additional Information

  • Whenever a production failover to a standby host is initiated, the failover process checks to see whether an active replication job is in progress, and if it is in progress, waits for it to finish before performing the failover.

After the failover, a new replication job will be automatically started from the new node.

  • If necessary you can configure the replication job. For more information, see Modifying the Settings for LiveSync Replication Job.
