Specifying the Preferred Linux Access Node for a Virtual Server Instance

When you modify a VMware instance, you can identify a preferred Linux access node. The access node is used for Live File Recovery and Live Recovery for Virtual Machines.

Note

  • If your hypervisor uses Indexing V1, selecting the preferred node for guest file restores is mandatory to enable mount operations for guest file restores of a VM.

  • For hypervisors using Indexing V2, selecting the preferred node for guest file restores is optional. If you do not configure a preferred node for guest file restores for a hypervisor, when you perform live browse and restore of guest files on Linux VMs, the Commvault software automatically selects an access node.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, go to Client Computers > virtualization_client > Virtual Server.

  2. Right-click the VMware object and select Properties.

  3. Click the Proxies tab.

  4. From the File Recovery Enabler for Linux list, select the Access Node and MediaAgent (OVA) deployed machine.

  5. Click OK.
