Alerts

The Alerts page lists the errors that occur during the discovery process in cloud connections. These errors typically include authentication and authorization errors, which can disrupt discovery workflows. Alerts provide insights into the root cause of discovery failures and allows you to quickly identify and resolve the issues. You can view alerts for a specific cloud connection by navigating to the Alerts tab of the cloud connection page.

Alerts support the following error types during discovery:

  • Authentication: Errors that occur when the system cannot verify the identity of a user attempting to access cloud resources. This error occurs when credentials are invalid or deleted.

  • Authorization: Errors that occur when an authenticated user does not have a permission to perform an action or access the resource. This error occurs when you modify the permissions provided by Cloud Rewind or attempt to access restricted resources.

The following are the different levels of authorization errors:

    - Region: Alerts are generated when discovery fails for an entire AWS cloud region. This allows you to quickly identify and resolve regional authorization issues.

    - Service: If a service discovery fails entirely, all associated resources during discovery fail across all regions or a specific region.

    - Resource type: Handles and generates respective error alerts for resources during discovery failure.

Capabilities

  • Quickly resolve cloud connection discovery failures during the onboarding process.

  • Highlights specific authorization errors of a cloud service for identifying and fixing permission issues.

  • Efficiently tracks and manages recurring errors during the discovery process. When the same error is repeatedly detected, it is recorded as occurrences within an already opened error alert. This eliminates redundancy, provides a consolidated view of recurring issues, and enables you to focus on resolving the root cause without being overwhelmed by duplicate alerts.

  • Streamlines error management by automatically handling resolved alerts. When an error is detected, it is created as an open alert. Once the issue is resolved, you can manually or automatically close the alert.
