Overview
You can configure resource group mapping in Cloud Rewind to control where recovered Azure resources are deployed. When enabled, this feature allows you to recover workloads into specific Azure resource groups—either existing groups or new ones created during recovery. This provides flexibility and control but also introduces potential naming conflicts if existing resources share identical names.
Note
If the recovery resource group already exists, the Reset and Schedule Reset options are disabled to prevent accidental deletion of existing resources.
Before You Begin
-
Ensure you have access to the target Azure subscription.
-
Verify that you have the required permissions to create or use Azure resource groups.
-
Review existing resource names to avoid conflicts during recovery.
Procedure
-
On the Recovery page, enter a name for the recovery, select the region, and select the resources you want to recover.
-
Scroll down and expand the Advanced section and enable the Resource Group Mapping toggle.
-
Select Map Resource Groups.
-
Map each source resource group to a target resource group:
-
New target group method: Enable the New Resource Group Mapping toggle to specify custom names for new target resource groups. This ensures a clean, isolated deployment without conflicts.
-
Existing target group method: Select existing resource groups from your Azure subscription. If a selected group already contains resources with the same name, Cloud Rewind may overwrite them and the recovery might fail due to conflicts.
-
Continue with the recovery process as prompted.
What to Do Next
-
Monitor the recovery job from the Recovery tab to confirm completion.
-
Verify the restored resources in the specified Azure target resource group.
