Configure Remote Software Cache

If you configured the Remote Software Cache on the old MediaAgent, then configure the Remote Software Cache on the new MediaAgent and associate all of the clients with the new MediaAgent.


  1. On the ribbon in the CommCell Console, click the Tools tab, and then click Add/Remove Software.
  2. Click Add/Remove Software Configuration.
  3. In the Add/Remove Software Configuration dialog box, click the Remote Software Cache tab.
  4. Click Add.
  5. From the Computer list, select the new MediaAgent.
  6. In the Please Specify Cache Directory box, enter the file path where you want to locate the software cache.
  7. Click Add/Remove Clients.
  8. Under Available Clients/Client Groups, select the clients and client groups that you recorded previously for old MediaAgent, and then click Include.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click Sync Cache.

    A message appears that tells you that a job has started to synchronize the updates.

  11. Click OK.

    Since the new MediaAgent is configured as Remote Software cache, Sync Cache starts an install updates job.

  12. Click OK.
