Adding an Array and Array Host Aliases

If you haven't done so yet, add the storage array in Array Management, and then configure aliases for it. An array can have multiple hostnames, IP addresses, or user configured names, which might be accessible by the client that initiates the snapshot creation.

Before You Begin

If you haven't done so yet, add the storage array in Array Management. For more information about how to add an storage array in Array Management, see one of the following topics:

Procedure

  1. On the ribbon in the CommCell Console, click the Storage tab, and then click Array Management.

    The Array Management dialog box appears.

  2. Select an array, and then click Edit.
  3. On the Array Properties dialog box , click on the Snap Configuration tab.
  4. In the Array Hosts Aliases property, click Add.
  5. On the Enter a Value for Array Host Alias dialog box, enter the following information, and then click OK.
    • The IP address of the NDMP server
    • The IP address of the local port of the storage array
  6. Optional: To change precedence of the array host aliases, use the arrow buttons.
  7. Optional: On the Snap Configuration tab, If you specify a list of aliases in the Array Host Aliases property to manually control the names for the array, then clear the Auto Update Array Host Aliases check box. If you don't select the Auto Update Array Host Aliases check box, then you must manually enter any aliases for the array in the Array Host Aliases list.
  8. Click OK.
