Creating a Subclient for the Network Share IntelliSnap Backup for NFS Exports

Applies To: Content paths that include the mount point

Create a subclient for the data that you want to back up for the NFS export.

Before You Begin

  • Review the considerations for the mount point format.
  • If you have not yet done so, create a storage policy. For the NetApp storage array, starting from V11 SP11, when you configure the primary snapshot copy with spool retention, one job retention will be retained instead of one cycle retention.
  • For the Hitachi NAS array and the Huawei array, share names are case sensitive. If the share name on the array is upper case, then the subclient content must be upper case. However, the share can be accessed on the Windows system using either case.

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > NAS client > file system, right-click defaultBackupSet, point to All Tasks, and then click New Subclient.

The Subclient Properties dialog box appears.

  2. In the Subclient Name box, type a name for the new subclient.
  3. On the Content tab, to add exports and paths to the content you want to back up, do one of the following:
    • To view the available mount paths, click Browse, and then select the mount path.

The mount path is displayed. If no data access nodes are selected at subclient level, then the first data access node selected on the Data Access Nodes tab at the agent level is displayed.

    • To manually add a path, click Add Paths, and then do one of the following:
      • Add the path using local paths.
      • Add the path using file_server_interface:/NFS_export_path.
  4. On the Subclient Properties dialog box, click Advanced.

    The Advanced Subclient Properties appears.

  5. Click the IntelliSnapOperations tab, and then select the IntelliSnap check box.
    1. The Available Snap Engines list becomes available. Select one of the following engines, and then click OK.
      • If you are using a Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale array, select Dell EMC Isilon Snap.
      • If you are using a Dell EMC Unity array, select Dell EMC Unity Snap.
      • If you are using a Hitachi NAS array, select Hitachi NAS Snap.
      • If you are using a Huawei array, select Huawei OceanStor Snap.
      • If you are using a NetApp array, select NetApp.
    2. Optional: From the Use Proxy list, select a proxy computer for IntelliSnap operations. For more information on proxy computers, see Proxy Computers for Network Share IntelliSnap Backup.
  6. On the Subclient Properties dialog box, click the Storage Device tab.
  7. Select a Storage Policy from the drop down list, and then click OK.
  8. Click OK.
