Enabling Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) on an Existing CommServe LiveSync Setup

Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) can be enabled on the SQL Server in an exiting CommServe LiveSync setup

Procedure

  1. Disable the CommServe LiveSync feature. For more information on disabling the CommServe LiveSync feature, see Enabling or Disabling CommServe LiveSync.
  2. Install the Commvault software packages on the production CommServe host.

    For more information on installing the packages on the production CommServe host, see Installing the Production CommServe Host.

  3. Open SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) from the production CommServe host, and perform the following tasks:
    1. Enable TDE on all the Commvault databases.
    2. Backup the TDE certificates from the production CommServe host.

    For more information on how to perform these tasks, refer to Microsoft SQL Server documentation.

  4. Open SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) from the standby CommServe host, and perform the following tasks:
    1. Restore the TDE certificates backed up on the production CommServe host.
    2. Enable TDE on all the Commvault databases

  5. Enable the CommServe LiveSync feature. For more information on disabling the CommServe LiveSync feature, see Enabling or Disabling CommServe LiveSync.
