Performing Backups for Google Cloud Platform Instances or VM Groups
You can perform on-demand backups for a VM group or for a specific instance.
During backup operations, if a GCP instance is powered off, that instance does not indicate whether it has an external IP address. Therefore, the Commvault software cannot flag the instance as having an external IP address in the backup operation. If you then restore this instance, after the restore operation is complete, you must manually assign an external IP address for the instance using the GCP portal.
- From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.
The Virtual machines page appears.
- To back up a specific instance, click the button in the Actions column for the instance, and then select Back up.
- To back up all of the instances in a VM group, on the VM groups tab, click the button in the Actions column for the VM group, and then select Back up.
- To monitor the progress of a backup job, in the navigation pane, go to Jobs.
To schedule periodic backups, see Managing Schedules.
