Configuring Oracle Subclients for Table Level Restores

You can create a subclient for a restore of one or more database tables. You can restore the tables without affecting other database parts.

Note: If you use Oracle 12c or a more recent version, you can only use this procedure for databases that are not Container Databases (CDB). To restore tables in Container Databases, you must use the RMAN command line. For more information, see Restoring Tables in Container Databases using the RMAN Command Line.

Before You Begin

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > Oracle.
  2. Right-click the instance, point to All Tasks, and then click New Subclient.

The Create New Subclient dialog box appears.

  3. In the General tab, in the Subclient Name box, enter a name for the subclient.
  4. On the Content tab:
    • Select the Data check box.
    • Select the Online Database option.
  5. On the Storage Device tab, select the name of the Data Storage Policy.
  6. If this subclient is used for a full backup, on the Logs Backup tab, select the Backup Archive Log check box.
  7. On the Advanced tab click the Options tab, then select the Enable Table Browse check box to allow table level restores.
  8. Optional: Select the subclient options.

Run scripts before or after the backup

    Uniquely identify the backup

Have the Commvault software automatically validate backup jobs performed on this subclient

  9. Click OK to close the Create New Subclient dialog box.

What to Do Next

After you configure your subclient for table level restores, the next scheduled backup on the subclient is converted to a full backup.
