Configuring Lustre File System for Archiving

You can configure archiving for Lustre File System by mounting the Lustre file system on all nodes of the cluster and by adding the mount points to the subclient content.

  1. Mount the Lustre file system on all nodes of the cluster.

By default the file locks are not enabled for Lustre. To archive files by using the file system archiver, mount the file system with -o flock or localflock option.

    [root@LustreClient01 ~]# mount –t lustre –o flock lustre192.168.0.10@tcp0:/lustre /mnt/lustre

  2. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > File System.
  3. Right the archive_set, point to All Tasks, and then click New Subclient.

The New Subclient dialog box appears.

  4. Specify the basic settings for the subclient:
    1. In the Subclient Name box, type a name.
    2. On the Content tab, click Add Paths to add the Lustre file system mount points, and then click OK.
    3. To archive your files, on the Archiving Rules tab:
      1. On the General subtab, set the rules based on the file access time, modified time, or file size.

For more information about archiving rules, see Archiving Rules.

      2. Optional: On the Advanced subtab, configure delayed stubbing and set additional archiving rules.

For more information about delayed archiving, see Delayed Archiving. For more information about advanced archiving rules, see Stub Pruning.

    4. To specify the retention period for your archived files, on the Retention subtab, set the time period.

For more information about retention period, see Retention Options for Archiving.

    5. On the Storage Device tab, select a storage policy from the Storage Policy list.
    6. Click OK.

Perform the procedure on all nodes of the clustered file system.
