Restore Files from a Snapshot (Browse from Snapshot)

You can browse and restore files and folders directly from a snapshot. If you ran an IntelliSnap backup without the cataloging phase, then you must browse and restore from the snapshot because the data is not indexed during the backup process.

Before You Begin

  • The Find and View All options are not available when you browse and restore from a snapshot.
  • You cannot sort the entries when live browsing snapshot data.
  • You can browse and restore files from a snapshot on a version 10 or later MediaAgent only. You cannot browse and restore files from a snapshot on a version 9 MediaAgent.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, navigate to Client Computers > client > NDMP > backup_set.
  2. Right-click the subclient that contains the data that you want to restore, and then click Browse and Restore.

The Restore Options dialog box appears.

  3. On the Advanced Options tab, select the Browse from Snapshot check box.
  4. Click View Content.

A tab for the subclient appears in the right pane.

  5. In the subclient tab, select the data that you want to restore, and then click Recover All Selected.

The Restore Options dialog box appears.

  6. On the General tab, under Restore Destination, enter the destination for the files that will be restored:
    • In the Destination client list, select the name of the client computer to which the data will be restored.
    • To restore data to the same path from which it was backed up, select the Restore to same folder check box.
    • To restore data to a different path from which it was backed up, clear the Restore to same folder check box, and then in the Specify destination path box, enter a destination path.
  7. Click OK.

The files are restored to the location that you specified.
