Strike Count Report - Overview

The Strike Count Report lists all clients and subclients with at least one strike in your CommCell environment. The latest failed or killed backup job on each client, subclient, or VM counts as a strike. This report can help you to identify the clients and subclients that consistently fail backups.

Only a successful full backup job resets the strike count to zero for a full backup. However, a successful full, incremental, or differential backup job resets the strike count to zero for an incremental or differential backup. If a subclient has both full and incremental strikes, the highest number of strikes are displayed so that each subclient, client, and VM is counted only once in the Summary table. Synthetic Full backup jobs are not included in the strike count.

Backup jobs that are Completed with Errors on some Database agents count as strikes. However, backup jobs that are Completed with Warnings and backup jobs that are Completed with Errors on File System agents do not count as strikes.

The following settings appear in the report:

  • One yellow dot: one strike, or one failed backup.
  • Two orange dots: two strikes, or two failed backups.
  • Three red dots: three strikes, or three failed backups.

Where to Access the Report

You can view this report on the Command Center or the Web Console in CommCell environments where the Metrics Reporting Server is installed, or on the Cloud Services Portal in environments where Metrics data collection is turned on.
