Generating Event Messages for Restore Jobs: Restore Job Summary Report

You can configure the CommCell Console to generate an event message for restore jobs using the EnableRestoreDataAgeTracking global parameter. This global parameter allows you to track the age of the data that you are trying to restore by comparing the backup time with the retention settings on the storage policy copy.

  1. On the CommServe computer, open the Command Line.
  2. From the command prompt, run the qlogin command.
  3. Execute the following Qscript command.

qoperation execscript -sn SetKeyIntoGlobalParamTbl.sql -si EnableRestoreDataAgeTracking -si y -si 1

  4. Restart CommServe services.
  5. Run a new restore operation.

Event messages appear only for restore jobs that run after you execute the EnableRestoreDataAgeTracking qscript.

  6. In the CommCell Console, run the Restore Job Summary Report.

For each restore job, an event message appears in the Event Viewer.  For each restore job in the Restore Job Summary Report, under the Associated Events section, the following details appear:

    • Backup Job ID
    • Storage Policy name
    • Storage Policy Copy name
    • Backup Time
