Defining Filters for an Automatic Upload to the Edge Drive

When you add folders for an automatic upload, by default, all files and sub folders in the folder that you configured on the Edge Drive Uploader tool are uploaded automatically to your Edge Drive. However, you can define filters to exclude specific files and folders from the uploads.

Before You Begin

Sign in to your Edge Drive Uploader tool. For instructions, see Access the Tool.


  1. From the Notification area, double-click the upload icon .

    Alternatively, you can right-click the upload icon and select Settings.

  2. In the Edge Drive Uploader window, click Add Filters.

    The Add filters dialog box appears.

  3. Choose the files or folders that you want to exclude from the upload operation:
    • To exclude specific files, in the Exclude Files box, type the file names separated by a comma.

      You can also use wildcard characters.

    • To exclude specific folders, in the Exclude Directories box, type the complete path to the folder to be excluded from automatic upload.

      Note: Do not use wildcard characters in the folder names.

  4. Click Save.
