Commvault ObjectStore as an Electronic Document and Records Management System

Commvault ObjectStore as an electronic document and records management system is deprecated from the Commvault software in Feature Release 19.

See End-of-Life, Deprecated and Extended Support - Features for information about deprecated features.Commvault provides a records management solution you can use to secure data records from different network locations to the ObjectStore (data storage repository). Users can access and manage records from the Web Console and can take advantage of other features in Web Console.

Key Features

  • Identify and classify records based on their network location.
  • Protect the records by scheduling backups to the Commvault ObjectStore.
  • Configure a retention period for the records. When the retention period is reached, delete the records from the ObjectStore and from their network location.
  • Access the protected records from the Web Console and share the records with other users.

How It Works

You create a Records Management ObjectStore client in the CommCell Console to protect your records, and in the Web Console, you configure your records. To configure your records, you add UNC paths to the folders you want to manage and you define properties and retention. When files are placed on your network in the folders you define, the files are backed up and assigned the properties and retention.
