Configuring IP Addresses for Management Ports

During disaster recovery planning, after the components are installed, configure the IP addresses for the management ports. You must specify the IP addresses to establish communication between the server where the CommServe and the MediaAgent are installed and the storage enclosure.

Before You Begin

Ensure that the new Commvault Appliance is cabled to the existing storage enclosures as described in Verifying the Racking and Cabling Commvault Appliance A410 or A210.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Commvault Appliance A410 or A210 machine.
  2. From the lower-right panel, start the Server Manager.

  3. On the Dashboard, select Local Servers.

        Ethernet port 3 and Ethernet port 4 are displayed as not connected.

  4. Right-click Ethernet 3 and click Properties.

  5. In the Ethernet port 3Properties dialog box, click the Networking Tab.

    Under This connection uses the following items, click the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and then click the Properties button.

  6. In the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties dialog box, click Use the following IP address.
    1. In the IP Address box, type 192.168.128.1.
    2. Ensure that the Subnet mask is set to 255.255.255.0.
    3. Click OK to exit the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties dialog box.

  7. Click Close to close the Ethernet port 3 dialog box.
  8. Right-click Ethernet port 4 and click Properties.

  9. In the Ethernet port 4Properties dialog box, click the Networking Tab.

    Under This connection uses the following items, click the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and then click the Properties button.

  10. In the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties dialog box, click Use the following IP address.
    1. In the IP Address box, type 192.168.128.2.
    2. Ensure that the Subnet mask is set to 255.255.255.0.
    3. Click OK to exit the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties dialog box.

  11. Click Close to close the Ethernet port 4 dialog box.
  12. Test the communication between the server where the CommServe and the MediaAgent are installed and the storage enclosures:
    1. To test the connection, at the command prompt, type ping 192.168.128.101.
    2. To test the connection to the E-Series controller, type ping 192.168.128.102.
