Archiving Files Based on File Extensions or File Types

You can archive files based on file extensions or file types.

Before You Begin

The following file extensions are included in the File Type list.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > File System > archive_set.
  2. Right-click the archiving_subclient, and then click Properties.

    The Subclient Properties dialog box appears.

  3. On the Content tab, specify the subclient content.
  4. To archive files based on file extensions or file types, on the Archiving Rules tab, on the General subtab, complete the following steps:
    1. Click Add to List.

      The Add file types dialog box appears.

    2. In the Custom file type box, enter the file extensions. You can enter multiple file extensions separated by a semi-colon.

      For example, you can enter *.txt;*.jpg;*.png.

    3. Click OK. The file extensions that you entered are displayed as check boxes in the File Type list.

      By default, the following file types are already added in the File Type list.

      • Audio
      • Image
      • Office
      • Text
      • Video
  5. On the Storage Device tab, from the Storage Policy tab, select a storage policy from the Storage Policy list.
  6. Click OK.
