Sharing a SAN Data Server Using Fibre Channel and iSCSI

You can share the mount path configured to use the SAN data server with multiple MediaAgents. You can use the same disk and configure separate mount paths to use fibre channel and iSCSI.

Before You Begin

Ensure that you have configured the disk library using the SAN data server MediaAgent. For more information, see Creating a Disk Library.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Storage Resources > Libraries > appropriate disk library .
  2. Right-click the mount path that you want to share with another MediaAgent, and then click Share Mount Path.
  3. In the Mount Path Properties dialog box, select the mount path, and then click Share.
  4. In the Share Mount Path dialog box, from the Transport Type list, select Data Server - FC.
  5. Select the MediaAgents with which you want to share this mount path with and click OK.
  6. Click OK to exit the Mount Path Properties dialog box.
  7. From the CommCell Browser, expand to Storage Resources > Libraries.
  8. Right-click the appropriate library, and then click Add Mount Path.
  9. In the MediaAgent list, ensure that the SAN data server MediaAgent is selected.
  10. Select Local Path, browse or create a mount path and click OK.
  11. Click OK to exit the Add Mount Path dialog box.
  12. From the CommCell Browser, expand Storage Resources > Libraries > appropriate disk library .
  13. Right-click the newly added mount path that you want to share with other MediaAgent, and then click Share Mount Path.
  14. In the Mount Path Properties dialog box, select the mount path, and then click Share.
  15. In the Share Mount Path dialog box, from the Transport Type list, select Data Server - iSCSI.
  16. Select the MediaAgents with which you want to share this mount path with and click OK.
  17. Click OK to exit the Mount Path Properties dialog box.
