Commvault HyperScale Appliance - Best Practices

Setting Up Negative Affinity

Virtual machine (VM) affinity allows you to define whether the VMs are run on the same host (positive affinity), or run separately on different hosts (negative affinity).

It is recommended to enable negative affinity for VMs associated with the CommServe and the Control node to enhance performance. VM affinity must be set using the Virtualization Manager, which can be accessed by typing the following URL in a Web Browser:

https://<Control Host Name>/ovirt-engine

For example:

For more information on Affinity Groups, see https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_virtualization/4.1/html/virtual_machine_management_guide/sect-affinity_groups.

Adding Disks

While adding disks, it is recommended that the number of disks (bricks) on each node should ideally be a multiple of the redundancy factor for better usage of disk storage. For more information on redundancy, see Adding a Storage Pool.
