Getting Started with Governance Apps

This topic describes the high-level steps that first-time users must follow to set up Governance Apps in the Admin Console.

Before You Begin

Step 1: Deploy Index Server, Content Analyzer Cloud, and Web Server

Deploy Index Server, Content Analyzer Cloud, and Web Server. These entities perform the content indexing and personal data analysis operations for required Governance Apps.

Step 2: (Conditional) Setup a Network Connection for File System Data Sources

If you plan to use Governance Apps to analyze clients that have the File System Agent installed but do not also have MediaAgent installed, then you must setup a one-way network connection to allow Governance Apps components to establish connections to these clients. For more information, see Setting Up a Network Connection for Governance Apps and File System Clients.

Step 3: Add Domains to Admin Console

Add domains as potential sources of data for Governance Apps. For more information, see Adding Domains for Governance Apps.

Step 4: Complete the Governance Apps Wizard

Perform initial configurations to set up Governance Apps by completing the Governance Apps Setup.

During the setup, you will create a data classification plan and create an inventory for Governance Apps.

What to Do Next

After you finish setting up Governance Apps, you can monitor assets in your enterprise for personal data and begin processing subject access requests.
