Information You Need to Create an Exchange Mailbox Server for a User Mailbox in an Office 365 with Exchange Using an Azure AD Environment

When you create an Exchange Mailbox server for a User Mailbox in an Office 365 with Exchange using Azure AD environment, you need the following information.

General Information

Server name

Provide a name for the Exchange Mailbox server.

Server plan

The name of server plan that you want to associate with the Exchange Mailbox server.

Index server

The index server that you created for the application.

Job results directory

The directory where the job results of client computer archive and restore operations are written. Enter the UNC path to a network location where the job metadata information will be stored.

The job results directory should be a location that is always accessible to the access nodes.

Make sure that the local system account user has write permissions to the job results directory.

If you move a shared job results directory, you must manually copy the entire folder structure into the new directory.

Access nodes

The list of access nodes that you want to associate with the Exchange Mailbox server.

You must associate at least one access node with the Exchange Mailbox server.

Recall service

The recall service points to the client where the Web Console is installed and that is used to retrieve stubbed messages for features like Outlook Add-In and ContentStore Email Viewer. Enter the complete address of the proxy service that was installed with the Web Console.

Consider the following when you configure recall services:

  • Specify a domain namespace.
  • The recall service URL, which is the URL to the client where the Web Console is installed, should be in either of the following formats: http://server.domain.com or https://server.domain.com.
  • The recall server can be a load-balancing server.
  • The recall services should be accessible from outside the firewall.

Exchange Environment Information

Mailbox type

Select User mailbox.

Environment type

Select Exchange Online (Access through Azure active directory).

Exchange servers

The list of on-premises Exchange servers that you want to associate with the Exchange Mailbox server.

You must include at least one Exchange server. If you include multiple Exchange servers, enter each server on a separate line.

Azure App Details

Your Office 365 information, and the information that you created when you registered the application in Microsoft Azure AD for Office 365 with Exchange using Azure AD.

Application ID

The Application ID value.

Application key value

The key value that was generated.

Azure directory ID

The Directory ID.

Exchange Service Accounts Information

Local System Account Information

You need the service account (that is, the Exchange Service Account) user name and password. This is the account that has Exchange administrative permissions.

Service type

Select Local System Account.

User name

The user name of the service account.

Password

The password of the service account.

Use static profile

If you use a static profile, you need the profile name of the service account profile in Microsoft Outlook on the access node.

Office 365 with Exchange Information

Email address

When the service type is Exchange Online, this is the SMTP email address of the Exchange (Exchange Online) Administrator Account.

User name

The user name of the service account.

Password

The password of the service account.

Use static profile

If you use a static profile, you need the profile name of the service account profile in Microsoft Outlook on the access node.
