Running an Exchange Mailbox Archiving Job

Typically, archiving jobs are run according to the schedule defined in the server plan. This procedure describes the general steps for running an archiving job on-demand.

You can run the job at the backup set, subclient, or mailbox level. This procedure describes running an archiving job from the subclient and mailbox levels.

Remember: The archiving job protects data. Messages are not stubbed during an archiving job. If you configured stubbing in the plan, then messages are stubbed when you run a cleanup job.

Procedure

  1. In the navigation pane, expand Solutions > Exchange, and then click the Exchange_Mailbox_server.
  2. In the Agents area, click Exchange Mailbox.
  3. In the Content area, click the backup_set.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • To archive the subclient, in the upper-right, click Archive.
    • ContentStore Mailbox and Journal Mailbox: To archive a mailbox, in the Actions column, click the action button action_button, and then click Archive.
    • User Mailbox: To archive a mailbox, select User from the backup_set list, then in the Actions column, click the action button action_button, and then click Archive.
    • User Mailbox: To archive all mailboxes that belong to an AD group or database, select the group_type from the backup_set list, then in the Actions column, click the action button action_button, and then click Archive.

    The archive job starts running immediately.
