Running an Exchange Mailbox Cleanup Job

Typically, cleanup jobs are run according to the schedule defined in the server plan. This procedure describes the general steps for running a cleanup job on-demand.

You can run the job at the backup set, subclient, or mailbox level. This procedure describes running an cleanup job from the subclient and mailbox levels.

Procedure

  1. In the navigation pane, expand Solutions > Exchange, and then click the Exchange_Mailbox_server.
  2. In the Agents area, click Exchange Mailbox.
  3. In the Content area, click the backup_set.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • To clean up the subclient, in the upper-right, click Clean up.
    • ContentStore Mailbox and Journal Mailbox: To clean up a mailbox, in the Actions column, click the action button action_button, and then click Clean up.
    • User Mailbox: To clean up a mailbox, select User from the backup_set list, then in the Actions column, click the action button action_button, and then click Clean up.
    • User Mailbox: To clean up all mailboxes that belong to an AD group or database, select the group_type from the backup_set list, then in the Actions column, click the action button action_button, and then click Clean up.

    The cleanup job starts running immediately.
