Setting a Default Email Template

You can set a default email template for each type of email template. If your environment includes multiple companies, you can set default email templates for each company.

About This Task

Default templates are used when users cannot manually choose the template and when the correct template cannot be determined.

Default templates are not used in the following cases:

  • Users chose the appropriate email template. For example, when a company is created, users can choose an email templates.
  • The language preference of a user is known and an email template for that language exists. For example, if a user who is viewing the Admin Console in German clicks the Forgot password link, the German email template is used.


  1. From the navigation pane, expand Administration > Customization, and then click Email templates.

    The Email Templates page appears.

  2. In the row of the default email template, in the Actions column, click the action button action_button, and then click Make default.
