Automatically Switching the Database Mode before an Oracle RAC Restore

In order to perform a restore operation, the database should be in the MOUNT mode. If the database is not in mounted state, you are prompted to switch the database to the mounted state and then perform the restore.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client.
  2. Right-click the instance, point to All Tasks and then click Browse and Restore.
  3. Select Latest Backup and click View Content.
  4. Select the database and click Recover All Selected.
  5. On the Oracle Restore Options dialog box, select the option for the type of restore operation, then click Next.

    An Oracle options dialog box appears.

  6. On the General tab, click Advanced.

    The Advanced Restore Options dialog box is displayed.

  7. On the Options tab, select the Switch Database Mode for Restore check box.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click OK.
